Learning to Live: Adult Education Ministries
Winter / Spring 2008

Living the Word
(January 3, weekly) Room 311
Leaders: Matthew Reeves and Others

God's Word in Christ, in the Bible, and in our interpretation of it is alive and wants to get into us. Week by week we will encounter the Living Word in our exploration of Scripture. We'll listen for how God speaks to our daily lives. And we'll look to important Christian beliefs for understanding our life in the church and our regular lives where we love God and others. Learning the faith where we're at, living the lives that we've got. Filled by God's Word, that's what we'll do.

Sabbath and Sabbatical
(May 11-25) Room 312
Leaders: Matthew Reeves and Brian Ellison

Pastor Ellison's 12-week sabbatical this summer gives not only him, but the whole congregation the opportunity to reflect on Sabbath practices that are God's gift of renewal to humanity. We will start by reflecting on what it means to honor the Sabbath, particularly in light of the complexities of hectic 21st century life: how Sabbath is not just a commandment, but a gift? Then on May 25 Pastor Ellison will lead a conversation on his sabbatical, sharing his plans and hopes, and inviting dialog about what his sabbatical means for the life of the congregation

Small Groups

Groups meet in individual members’ homes (or at the church) for Bible study, prayer and fellowship. These groups are designed to provide opportunities for deeper relationships—and fuller understanding—as we gather around the Scriptures.

Groups currently meet on Tuesday Mornings, Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings. As the groups expand, additional times and locations will be added.

For more information on these small groups, including how you can be part of one, contact Marney Miller, 741-3309.
